Most successful project
I think my most successful project was probably the clay food project. In the beginning I didn't think I would do to well on this project. I decided to do a slice of my mom's cheesecake. I first had to draw four sketches from different angles and then a final sketch in color. This gave me a good idea of what I was going to sculpt in 3D. I decided to just make a slice of cake and the plate under it. I sculpted the piece of cake first which was challenging to keep it stood up because it was hollow. I then made the plate by using a real plate and making clay take the form of it. After I added texture to the cheese and it was fired. I then painted which I think tied everything together to make it look like my best project . I think I did a nice, clean job of doing the paint and getting the right color of the real cheesecake. Overall, everything turned out nicely and really looked like the real things. Even my parents thought it was a real slice when I first showed it to them.
Two mini-projects
I think this mini-project really helped me on my big two-point project. I think it was enough to give me success because it had everything we needed to know. It showed where to draw the lines of the buildings and sidewalks and examples of windows and other things. All this is basically what I ended up doing in my final but a more thorough version with more detail. It was overall a very good mini-project that well prepared me for my big project.
I think this color wheel mini-project helped a lot as well. I think this/ the value chart prepared us for our big project . The reason I think it helped is because it was like we were testing what colors make what and how to get darker and lighter values of a certain color which is key in a painting. It helped me realize that adding a lot of some color or a little of some color will make this or that. When I was painting the final I didn't need to worry about this because I remembered how to make each shade. Overall this mini-project set us up well for the big project.
Other Student Feedback
This is Amrutha's work of art for the clay project. I think she did a great job in this project of meeting the guidelines of the project and going above and beyond. She followed the task given and really can tell the effort she put into it. She did a very good job of using the clay by molding to make these snacks look like the real things. As you can see she even did all the tiny details in the chex mix and cheese its. The bowl also looks like a real bowl and has a great color to go with the snacks. Unlike others she used multiple foods instead of just one. She chose the hard route and it payed off in the end. I think she might have gone out of her comfort zone by taking on this challenging task and knowing it was going to be time consuming and frustrating. Overall I really like this piece and think she did a really good job on this.
